‘Time is money.’ We have all heard that phrase many times in our lives.
I hate to break it to you, but that phrase is pure bullshit. Time is not money. If time was money, we would all be rich! But we all have the same 24 hours in a day.
No one is going to give you money for your time.
Your time is worthless to anyone if you’re not providing a benefit or entertainment of value to that person. Your time is only worth money if you use it to take an action which produces some value of a benefit or entertainment that can be exchanged for monetary gain.
Time is one of the most valuable – if not, the most valuable – asset a person has. When someone is born, no one knows for sure how much time they would have in their life. Some people live many years while others are gone way too early.
Time treats everyone the same without prejudice. Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day and when it’s gone, it’s gone forever and it can never be brought back.
Time without action has no value.
What you do with your time and the actions you take will determine the success you have in your life.
If you want to be a good spouse and a good parent, having all the time in the world won’t matter if the time isn’t used to give attention to your spouse and children.
If you want to be successful in business, you will have to use your time to do things that create value for others.
Your time isn’t worth anything other than the opportunity to do something with it that is valuable to you and to others.
89% of us waste too much of our time. Nobody on their deathbed had said, ‘I wish I wasted more time in my life doing nothing.’
We should all be more conscious of what we do and how we spend our time. If we put more emphasis on using our time to produce a life of better quality, we will find out that the air we breathe seems a little fresher; the sun, a little warmer; the breeze, a little cooler; and the smell of the flowers, a little stronger. And most importantly, the world and our lives, more pleasant and happy.
Life is short. Spend your time making it the best it can be.
How are you spending your time when you’re feeling fulfilled?
